【国際教育】留学生英語教授法体験プログラムELTE開始

Recently Chukyo University and Chukyo High School cooperated and began the English Language Teaching Experience Program (ELTE). This program gives international students at Chukyo University who are interested in teaching English in Japan the opportunity to gain classroom experience with Japanese high school students.

On 5/19 three international students came to the high school and paired with a high school native teacher. They could watch native high school teachers lead a Team Teaching lesson with Chukyo 1st grade students. The international students participated in the lesson and could interact with the students. The native teachers and international students then met to go over the next lesson that the international students would be leading.

On 5/26 the international students lead a Team Teaching lesson at the high school. The lesson was on useful English for describing people and the international students did a great job of teaching the material and running the activities. The native high school teachers advised them and gave advice that will hopefully help them in their future teach English in Japan.

The ELTE Program was a great opportunity for the Chukyo University international students to gain classroom experience. The high school students could interact with new English speakers and enjoy their lesson. It was a fun and useful event for everyone involved.

中京大学との連携による英語教授法体験プログラム（ELTE）が開始されました。このプログラムは、日本で英語を教えたいと考えている中京大学の留学生に日本の高校生と一緒に授業を体験する機会を提供するものです。

5月19日、3名の留学生が中京大中京高校を訪れ、本校のネイティブ教員による授業の様子を見学しました。1年生の授業に参加したり生徒と交流したりした後、担当ネイティブ教員とミーティングを行い、留学生が実際に担当することになる次の授業について打ち合わせを行いました。

翌週5月26日に留学生たちは再び高校を訪れ、授業を実施しました。授業内容は、「人を説明する際に役立つ表現」についてです。ネイティブの担当教員たちはその様子を観察し、授業後には将来日本で英語を教える際に役立つような助言を行いました。

ELTEプログラムは、中京大学の留学生にとって授業経験を積む絶好の機会となりました。1年生の生徒たちもこれまで会ったことのない留学生との交流を通じて楽しく授業を受けることができ、関係者全員にとって有益なプログラムとなりました。
