【国際コース】長期留学生 日本生活を振り返って

 2021年9月から2022年7月までの間、本校国際コース（現２J）にアメリカからの留学生が在籍し、日本の学校生活を体験しながら一緒に勉強をしてきました。日本人の生徒たちと刺激しあいながらお互いに学ぶことの多かった一年間だったと思います。帰国後にお手紙を書いてくれましたので、以下に掲載をいたします。

Chukyo High School

I attend a high school in New York and decided to study abroad at Chukyo High School in Japan for my 11th year. It was one of the best decisions of my life as I had a wonderful and fulfilling experience at Chukyo.
I was impressed with Chukyo's academics and extracurricular activities. I took the Chukyo International Course curriculum which is a set of classes that focuses on global, social, and environmental issues and taught in a manner that emphasized learning the English language. In addition, Chukyo gave me many opportunities to develop networks with other students around the world. I connected with students from Taiwan, the United States, and other foreign countries. I also had the opportunity to speak with the foreign students at Chukyo University, further expanding my view of the world.
The teachers were phenomenal and genuinely supportive of each student's academics and well-being. My fellow students were very affable and available to answer any questions I had about academics and Japan. As for extracurricular activities, Chukyo offered an amazing variety of clubs. I thoroughly enjoyed playing badminton as well as participating in the tea ceremony and home economics clubs.
With Chukyo being located in Nagoya, I had many opportunities to see the historical side of Japan such as the Nagoya castles and Toyota museum. My favorite place in Nagoya was Osu Shopping District. I would often go there with friends to eat at the many restaurants and spend hours at karaokes.
My time at Chukyo was truly a once in a lifetime opportunity that will stay with me forever. From the friends I made and the lessons I learned, I have gained a wider perspective of the world. I will always be grateful for the support of Chukyo High School. Thank you!

 私はニューヨークの高校に通っていますが、高校二年の年に日本の中京大学附属中京高校に留学することにしました。中京では充実した素晴らしい経験をすることができ、私の人生において最高の決断のひとつとなりました。

 中京の学業と課外活動に感銘を受けました。私は、中京国際コースのカリキュラムで、地球・社会・環境問題に焦点を当て、英語の習得に重点を置いた授業を受けていました。 また、中京大学では、世界中の学生とのネットワークを構築する機会が多くありました。台湾、アメリカ、その他の国からの留学生との交流もありました。 また、中京大学の留学生と話す機会もあり、さらに世界観が広がりました。

 先生方は素晴らしく、生徒一人ひとりの学業ややりたいことを心から応援してくれました。仲間の学生たちもとても親切で、学業や日本についてどんな質問にも答えてくれました。課外活動については、中京大学は驚くほど多様なクラブがあります。私はバドミントンを楽しんだり、茶道や家庭科のクラブに参加したりしました。

 中京は名古屋にあるので、名古屋城やトヨタ博物館など、日本の歴史的な側面を見る機会が多くありました。名古屋で一番好きな場所は、大須商店街です。友達とよく行って、たくさんのレストランで食事をしたり、カラオケで何時間も過ごしたりしていました。

 中京大学で過ごした時間は、本当に一生に一度の機会であり、私の心にずっと残るものです。友達を作り、学んだことから、私は世界に対する広い視野を得ることができました。中京で受けられたサポートに常々感謝しています。 ありがとうございました。
