【国際コース】3年生、卒業論文発表会を実施！

7月8日、中京大学名古屋キャンパスの清明ホールで、国際コース3年生の生徒たちが卒業論文発表会を行いました。生徒たちは高校2年生の夏からこの卒業論文プロジェクトを開始し、各々の卒論のテーマを決めた後、この1年間、論文執筆のためのリサーチ、インタビュー、分析などに時間を費やしてきました。完成した最終原稿は今後卒業論文集として製本される予定ですが、それに先駆けてこの発表会で成果を披露しました。

卒業論文のテーマは、「英語教育は何のためにあるのか」、「AIを使った兵器をどのようにコントロールすべきか」、「日本は難民を受け入れるべきか」、「日本はSDGsを正しい方法で推進しているか」など、生徒によって様々です。生徒たちはパワーポイントやCanvaなどのアプリケーションを使って7～9分間のプレゼンテーションを行ったのですが、どの生徒も内容をしっかりと覚え、原稿に目を落とすことなくアイコンタクトやジェスチャーを自然に、そして効果的に使いながら力をこめた発表を行いました。卒業論文の内容もプレゼンテーションのクオリティも両方とも追求した生徒たちの発表はとても素晴らしく、国際コースの1、2年生や生徒の家族、卒業生など集まった観客たちを魅了してくれました。閉会式では、聴衆と教員の投票によって選ばれた上位3名に対して中京大学附属中京高等学校の伊藤正男校長より金賞、銀賞、銅賞のトロフィーと賞状が授与され、大きな喝采を浴びていました。

国際コースで培った英語力とプレゼンテーション能力を披露する集大成となるイベントが大成功に終わり、３年間で大きく成長した姿を見せてくれた生徒たちを心から誇りに思います。

On July 8th the students from 3J in the International Course presented their final Thesis Presentations in Seimei Hall at Chukyo University, Nagoya Campus. The 3J students began writing their theses during their 2nd year in high school. Students chose their thesis questions and spent the past year researching, writing, and interviewing for their thesis. They completed their final drafts, which will be collected and printed, and at the event presented their findings.

The students gave wonderful presentations! The presentation topics included "What is English Education For?", "How Should We Control Weapons That Use AI?", "Should Japan Accept Refugees?", and "Is Japan Promoting SDGs in the Right Way?".

The students used PowerPoint and Canva to create their 7-9-minute presentations. They were all memorized and were very passionate and enjoyable. Each student worked hard both in writing their theses and in their presentations, so they were all wonderful to watch.

1st and 2nd grade students in the International Course came to view all the presentations as well as the students' families and some university students. Mr. Ito, the principal of Chukyo University Senior School, gave Gold, Silver, and Bronze trophies to the top 3 presenters voted on by the audience and teachers.

It was a wonderful event and showed off the presentation skills the students developed over their 3 years in the International Course. It is the final major presentation for the 3J students and we are very happy the event was a success!
